🚨 BLOCKED SINK – SALTDEAN TODAY 🚨
Today we were called out to a property in Saltdean for a completely blocked kitchen sink.
The customer had previously tried using caustic soda drain cleaner to clear the blockage. Unfortunately, the chemical had solidified inside the trap and plug outlet, leaving a rock-hard obstruction that couldn't simply be cleared.
After dismantling the waste system, we also discovered a substantial build-up of fat and grease further downstream.
🔧 Solidified caustic soda removed
🔧 Fat blockage cleared downstream
🔧 Damaged/blocked plug outlet replaced
🔧 Waste pipework replaced and reconnected
🔧 System fully tested and left flowing correctly
⚠️ A word of caution with chemical drain cleaners: if they don't clear the original blockage, you're potentially left with a drain containing highly corrosive chemicals, which can also make it more hazardous for whoever has to dismantle or clear it afterwards.
If your sink isn't draining properly, getting the cause diagnosed and mechanically cleared can prevent a small blockage becoming a much bigger job.
